With Nigerian football lovers still heaving sighs of relief, following the nerving win of the Super Eagles against Mozambique, one of the players, Ebenezer Oluwafemi Ajilore (Mayor) has confessed that he felt nervous for the better part of the match.

The FC Groningen of Holland midfielder stated as much on Monday morning, during a live telephone interview with Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM, but said sheer determination to justify Coach Shaibu Amodu’s confidence spurred him towards an above fair performance.

“What I was thinking was that I have to prove a point to the coaching crew, because I have been doing that with my club.

“I was happy for them giving me the chance. I was determined to go there and do my best, make myself proud and to help the team as well.

“To the glory of God, I did my best and, more importantly, I am happy for the victory which God gave us,” said the former FC Myddtilland of Denmark dark-skinned midfielder.
