Nigeria’s U-17 national team coach, John Obuh says he is optimistic his charges will do well at the World Cup that kicks off in Abuja on Saturday.
Speaking just after his side defeated National Division One League side Julius Berger 1-0 in a friendly match, Obuh said his team is ready to face the world.
“We are ready. It is just a matter of days and Nigerians would see what I have put together for the World Cup,” Obuh said.
“In the Bible David seemed small to fight Goliath but when it came to crunch time we saw what he did.”
Obuh also said the MRI test was a good thing for the team.
“The MRI was good for the team. The fact that we accepted it especially me means it will eventually turn out to favour us.
“If I fail I won’t blame the MRI test. It has nothing to do with the quality of the team. I have a good team to face the world and I am sure they will make us proud.”
The U-17 World Cup kicks off on Saturday in Abuja with a game between Nigeria and Germany.
