Unaware of the FIFA suspension which hit Nigeria on Monday afternoon, three foreign based players have already arrived in the country for the Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifying match against Guinea this weekend.
The players, Dele Aiyenugba of Israeli club, Bnei Yehuda, Taiye Taiwo of French Champions, Marseilles and Sunday Stephens who plays for Valencia.
NFA media officer, Robinson Okosun told naijafootball247 that the trio arrived in Nigeria on Monday afternoon but are still in Lagos.
“They are our very first foreign based arrivals. Though they are not in Abuja yet, they are in the country and will be in Abuja on Tuesday morning to join the rest of the home based lads.
He added that the England based players, Mikel Obi, Dickson Etuhu, Obinna Nsofor and OSaze Odemwingie are expected to be in Nigeria on Tuesday.
“Those based in England have sent information to us that they will be in Nigeria on Tuesday. While we expect them we also know of the situation we have found ourselves as regards the latest FIFA announcement but after our meeting on Tuesday we will come out with a statement on that.”
