Dolphins’ top scorer last season, Captain Ejindu has denied rumours he wanted to play for his home town club this season.
Ejindu was rumoured to have crossed over to Aba during the off season to play for Enyimba but has said he never did.
“You know I am from Aba. I only went to the stadium one day and all the fans started saying I must join Enyimba.
“I never trained with them and I never even spoke with the chairman so I was surprised when I started reading that I had joined Enyimba,” Ejindu said.
“I cannot consider returning to Aba to play because that is my home and I will be very distracted with friends and family always around me. I am happy at Dolphins so it’s good to set the records straight.”
Captain Ejindu was Dolphins top scorer last season, finishing with 10 goals to his name.
Meanwhile, Dolphins are set to round up their pre-season tour with a friendly game against Heartland on Saturday at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
Dolphins who finished 12th in the Nigeria Premier League last season have been camping out at Egbema, a town outside Port Harcourt for two weeks and have played a series of friendly games.
They beat Ocean Boys 1-0 on Thursday in Yenagoa, an Owusu Addae strike and then drew 2-2 against Abia Warriors in Egbema a day later before defeating Egbema United 1-0 on Friday afternoon.
After the game against Heartland, the side returns to Port Harcourt ahead of their opening league fixture against Plateau United in Jos on Sunday, October 24.
