The trio of Mikel Obi, Osaze Odemwingie and Dickson Etuhu will not play against Guinea if the FIFA ban is lifted in time for the game on Sunday.
The three players who feature in the English Premier League have different forms of injuries that have ruled them out.
Chelsea’s Mikel Obi hurt his knee in last weekend’s game against Arsenal while Osaze Odemwingie copped an ankle injury against Bolton.
For Dickson Etuhu, his club, Fulham wrote to the NFF informing that he injured his ankle in training.
NFF media officer, Robinson Okosun told naijafootball247.blogspot.com that they would not call up any new players as replacements.
“You know we have had 15 home based players in camp so we feel they will be able to do the business,” Okosun said.
He added that there was no need to ask the players to report to camp for confirmation since they saw them get injured.
“We watched Mikel Obi against Arsenal and Osaze against Bolton and saw the points where they got injured so there was not need making them report for our medical crew to see for themselves.
“In the case of Etuhu, he had reported to camp with injuries in games against Korea and Madagascar and if he was honest on those two occasions we have no reason to doubt him now,” Okosun said.
Meanwhile playing the game against Guinea on Sunday will so much depend on FIFA readmitting Nigeria into the football family after they announced Nigeria’s suspension on Monday afternoon.
