Head coach of Nigeria’s Super Falcons, Eucharia Uche says she is so sure the Falcons can regain the Africa Women Championship trophy they lost two years ago in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Shortly after departure to South Africa for this year’s edition, Uche told naijafootball247.blogspot. com that she is very satisfied with the team taken out for the championships and is convinced they have all it takes to win the trophy.
“Of course we are ready for the competition and I am satisfied with the team we have picked to play. We are going to South Africa as champions even though we lost the trophy two years ago, we still have the champions spirit in us,” Uche said.
Nigeria have won all Africa Women Championships since its inception but lost out in the semi finals two years ago to Equatorial Guinea but the coach believes there will be no pressure on her or the team to win.
“Naturally there should be pressure on the girls to return Nigeria to winning ways but we have conditioned ourselves to know that the task ahead is something we can achieve so we are going in with that mindset.
“We also know that this tournament serves as qualifiers for the next World Cup but all that is not enough to put us under pressure.”
Nigeria open her campaign in the Championships on Monday against Mali.
