Kelechi Osunwa in Al Hilal’s colours

Recuperating El Merreikh of Sudan striker, Kelechi Osunwa says he is now okay and gearing up to return to active footballing.

Osunwa told naijafootball247.com that he underwent a knee surgery under the knife of one of the best in the profession and is optimistic that nothing will stop his return from knee ligament damage and a successful surgery.

“I’m fine now and I have started my training. I’m fast improving and I thank God that I’m back to the game.

“Van Nickel is one of the best surgeons in the World and he is based in England. He performed my surgery and I believe all is well and I look forward to playing again,” Osunwa told naijafootball247.com.

“When you get an injury like this and you go through this kind of surgery, as a player you may have that fear of a relapse or not getting back to your best form but for me, I am very optimistic that my best years are still ahead of me and I really cannot wait to get back to playing for my club.”

Osunwa started his football career playing for Bright Stars, and Academy in Port Harcourt before signing for Dolphins in 2002 where he won the League and Cup double in 2004 and the CAF Confederation Cup silver in 2005.

He moved to Sudan in 2006 first to Al Hilal and then recently El Merreikh where he has won the Sudanese League, Cup and highest goal scorer award.
