After coming from a 2 goal deficit against Heartland Football Club of Owerri to hold them to a 2-2 draw at the Warri City Stadium, players of Warri Wolves Football Club of Warri took the battle to Jos against JUTH Football Club of Jos with a promise to win the game for their main backer ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.
With that promise, a 30th minute goal through defender Nelson Onyekachi to beat JUTH 1-0 ensued they got all points at stake.
It was truly a possessed Warri Wolves side who came to the tin city of Jos surmounting the harsh cold and parading a defensive formation that had Captain Goodluck Onamado, Malian import Adama Coulibaly, Ossai Uche, ThankGod Ike, Azubuike Egwuekwe and Nelson Onyekachi, coming all out against a determined JUTH F.C side.
If the performance of the defenders was perfect, the heroics of Chigozie Agbim who was making a return to the first team of Warri Wolves was excellent, as he punched, dived, gripped all obstacles that came his way to show that he is still the first choice keeper of the Warri based team.
Speaking after the game the Captain of Warri Wolves, Goodluck Onamado said they could not forgive themselves for forcing Heartland to a 2-2 draw at home, not after being forced to a 1-1 draw at Ilaro by new boys Crown F.C, and knowing that any defeat now for them would spell doom for their title chasing ambition.
Captain Onamado added that the morale boosting talk of the chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Amaju Pinnick who promised them to go all out, get a win and pocket 1 million naira was also a factor.
Assuring their teeming supporters that since they have finally broken the jinx of not winning away from home there is no going back for them any more as they will do everything within their power to ensure that they maintain this winning momentum.
