The Nigeria Premier League has banned the Gateway International Stadium, Shagamu where Kwara United play its home games.
According to the vice chairman of NPL, Shehu Gusau, the decision was taken after the game between Kwara United and Shooting Stars Sports Club last Saturday.
“We cannot play any match in the stadium again because that pitch is not good. Anybody that saw the game against Shooting Stars will attest to the fact that the pitch is not good for football.
“We have always warned clubs that they must take good care of the pitches where they play because no good football can be played on a bad pitch.
“The problem with most clubs is that they don’t take adequate care of their pitches.
“So Kwara united would have to look for alternative venue from their next home game. It is not as if we like to sanction clubs, but when they go against the rules, there is nothing we can do but to come hard on them,” Gusau said.
The Nigeria Premier League have insisted that only television friendly stadia will host matches this season.
