Acting Technical Adviser of Nigeria Premier League side, Bukola Babes says he already considers himself a winner before Tuesday night’s Africa Independent Television, AIT Football awards night.
Allen (pic)who used to be a banker a few years ago took unknown Bukola Babes from obscurity to Premier League status this season and once went on an 8 game unbeaten spree before they lost in Port Harcourt to Dolphins three weeks ago.
Allen told naijafootball247.com that he never thought a few years ago that he would see himself being nominated as Nigeria’s coach of the year.
“I am not even thinking for now about winning the award. If I do win it eventually, it will be a great boost to me and my CV because I have come from little or nothing to this point is so short a time,” Allen said.
“I look at the two people contending with me for the position and they are tested and seasoned coaches who have achieved a lot in their lives and I respect Okey (Emordi) and Salisu (Yusuf). I am happy enough being here. I hope I win but if I don’t, I will still be proud of my victory.”
Incidentally, Allen returns to Port Harcourt hopeful to pick an award in the place of his birth.
Many people from Rivers State do not even know he is from Rivers State having lived most of his life in the western part of Nigeria.
“I have lived most of my life in the west and mostly Ilorin and when I tell people I am from Rivers State they are surprised and that is one intriguing thing about my visit to Port Harcourt. My full names are actually Festus Allen Braide.
“Yes I have been here twice in the League where we lost to Sharks and Dolphins but it will be good to pick this award here so the people can know more about me,” Allen enthused.
