West Ham and Super Eagles’ Victor Obinna Nsofor says the new national team will make Nigerians proud in Sunday’s 2012 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Ethiopia.
Nsofor told naijafootball247.com that the most important thing is to win the game for now since the number of goals may not be the important factor for now.
“I hear a lot of people talking about us scoring six or seven goals against the Ethiopians and we will take it if it comes but let us not put ourselves under that pressure of wanting to score so many goals,” Nsofor said.
“We want to win and score as many as possible but Nigerians must take it easy with us.”
He added that though the team is a new one a lot of us have played under Siasia before at U20 level.
“You know, the thing about this team is that a lot of us started playing international football with Samson Siasia at U20 level and then we played under him at U23 level in the Olympic Games so there is a level of understanding between the team.
“We have a really long way to go from now until the 2014 World Cup but we must take the games as they come. We have a team that can win against Ethiopia on Sunday and we will do that,” he enthused.
