Nigeria’s Olympic Team assistant coach, Benedict Iroha (Pic: left)says Ekigho Ehiosun will still have to sit up if he must get a regular place in the team.

Ehiosun was able to get a start in the game against Equatorial Guinea in Malabo because a lot of the foreign based players did not make the trip but Iroha says there had never been any discrimination in the team selection.

“We did not keep Ehiosun on the bench in the first leg because he plays in Nigeria but we use players according to their form at every point in time.

“He has to keep playing well and impressing us in training or else he will not play despite the three goals he scored over the weekend,” Ben Iroha said.

The Olympic Team assistant coach told that in the team there is no discrimination between players who play in the home League and those who play abroad.

According to him, they treat all players the same and they do not pick their team based on where the players are based.

“For us there is no home based or foreign based player here. We use the best we have with us and we have never discriminated. Ekighpo scored three today (Sunday) but it may not guarantee he will start the next game but his form at that time.”

Ehiosun was a late call up to Nigeria’s Super Eagles after he got a hat trick against Sharks in a League game two months ago.

He scored on his Super Eagles debut against Sierra Leone and then on his debut for the U23s, the Olympic Team.
