Enyimba’s media officer, Farriel Allaputa says the club will protest to the Nigeria Premier League against the assault by fans of Ocean Boys.

In a League game played at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Sunday, fans of Ocean Boys beat up the media officer as well as other officials and fans of the club.

Apparently they did this to stop the media man from submitting a tape of the match to the match commissioner which is the laid down procedure.

“You know we scored a goal through Victor Barnabas in the 94th minute which should have decided the match but it was disallowed by the referee even though we all believed it was a good goal.

“So it was at this point the fans walked to me and demanded that I hand the match tape over to them and when I refused I got the beating of my life,” Allaputa told naijafootball247.com.

“They didn’t just stop at that, they also assaulted other members of the Enyimba management and fans who came to watch the match were also beaten up and some even stabbed.”

Allaputa told naijafootball247.com that the club will not take it lying low but will protest to the organisers of the League because, “These things should no longer happen in Nigerian football.”
