Nigeria Football Federation president, Aminu, Maigari says he is shocked at comments made by Nigerians as regards the attention given to former national team players.

Coming in the wake of Rashidi Yekini’s death a fortnight ago, Maigari says it is not true that the NFF abandoned the former striker or any other ex international.

On Thursday, in Abuja, Maigari said he was shocked at comments by some persons that the NFF ‘abandoned’ the megastar.

“It is incorrect to say that the NFF abandoned the late football hero. We made several efforts to reach him, and even announced it in the media sometime last year that we were looking for him. We went beyond that to send several persons to Yekini but he just didn’t want to have anything to do with anybody, apparently.

“Those who are talking know the truth. They also know that no NFF administration has done as much as we have to bring to the fold colleagues of late Yekini in the Super Eagles, and other ex-international players. This is a fact,” stated Maigari.
