Glo
Premier League side, Gombe United, have finally completed the recruitment of
former Super Eagles gaffer, Austin Eguavoen, as the new Technical Adviser of
the team.
The
Savannah Scorpions, as Gombe United are fondly called, have also finalised the
deal with another ex-international, Oladuni Oyekale, who is set to take over as
the Chief Coach.
The
contracts papers that will bind the two coaches to Gombe United till the end of
the season were on Wednesday signed and the duo are expected to get down to
business earnestly ahead of the commencement of the second stanza of the League
in the days ahead.
Club
officials revealed that the government of Gombe State approved the signing of
the new Technical Adviser because the club does not sit too pretty on the
Premier League table at the end of the first round of the 2013/14 season.
Eguavoen’s
primary mission will be to lift the club out of the bottom of the log even as
the management board assured that they will give him all the support towards
seeing that the club navigate out of the relegation waters.
As
part of other measures, Gombe United have also made adjustment in the playing
personnel by signing seven new players and dropping others based on the
recommendation of the technical crew.
These
changes are meant to restructure the team for the better.
Eguavoen
last coached at Sharks in 2013, a stint that was short-lived by contractual
disputes that saw him eventually walk out of the team after three weeks of the
season.
