Stephen
Keshi may return to the Super Eagles within seven days if words of a communique
issued after a a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football
Federation are anything to go by.
As
part of decisions reached by the EXCO, a technical sub-committee was mandated
to open channels of communication with Stephen Keshi “with a view to extending
his contract, as the NFF is still interested in working with him.”
The
committee is expected to report back to the Executive Committee within one
week.
Stephen
Keshi had said after Nigeria’s loss to France in the 2nd round of
the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil that he may not be with the country’s national
team any longer as his contract was not renewed and there were no moves made to
trigger a renewal.
The
rumour mills then went into full gear with reports that he may be named head
coach of South Africa’s Bafana Bafana.
Maigari
impeached

Also
at the NFF glass house in Abuja on Thursday, Aminu Maigari was impeached as
president of the Nigeria Football Federation.
Maigari
was removed on grounds of financial misappropriation, misapplication and
maladministration.
“After
thorough and exhaustive deliberations on the uncalled-for secrecy surrounding
all financial dealings of the Federation and failure to call meeting of the
Executive Committee for the past eight (8) months, during which so many weighty
decisions on Nigeria football had been taken by a small cabal within the Board,
the Executive Committee passed a vote of no confidence on the NFF President,
Alhaji Aminu Maigari,” a statement from the glass house read.
Ratification
An
Emergency Congress of the Nigeria Football Federation will be convened in the
Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Thursday, 31st July, 2014 to ratify the
impeachment of Alhaji Aminu Maigari from the NFF Executive Committee.

Erstwhile,
NFF 1st vice president, Mike Umeh will now serve as president until
elections are held next month.
