Brown
Ideye says he is okay and will play against Burnley Sunday if the coaches
decided to pick him.
After
scoring his first goal for the club on Wednesday against Hull City in the
League Cup Ideye was taken off injured.
“I
do not know how bad it is but I am hoping when I go to the doctors to check,
they will tell me it is not that bad,” Ideye told naijafootball247.com on Thursday
morning on his way to get checked.
Later
in the day he went to tweeter to send this message to his fans, “Thanks
everyone for the love. My injury is not that serious, hopefully I will be fine
before the next game. Thanks once again.”
The joy of
scoring
Ideye
a record signing for the club from Dinamo Kiev for about ten million pounds had
failed to score in his first four games for the club- three in the League and
one in the Capital One Cup last month before Wednesday’s game against Hull City
FC.
“I
am happy the goal came when it did and I am sure there will be many more to
come after this,” and excited Ideye told naijafootball247.com.
“After
I hit the ball I landed awkwardly and thought I had hurt something but
thankfully I will be okay for this weekend’s game,”
Ideye
adds that there was really no pressure on him to score from the fans but that
he did not want it to get to that point.
“There
was really no one putting pressure on me, but when you are a striker and you start
playing games without scoring there is a kind of pressure that will come but I’m
happy I eventually scored in my fifth game for the club and hopefully, more
will come and regularly too.”
The win against Tottenham
Ideye
describes last Sunday’s win in the League against Tottenham as a great one.
“For
one it lifted us off the bottom of the table and secondly it shook away the
pressure that was beginning to set in.
“You
do not want to start the season at the bottom of the table. That is too much
pressure and it is a good thing we won that one.
“We
believe many more wins will come after that one at the White Hart Lane.”
West
Bromwich Albion are currently 16th on the table with five points,
just 2 points ahead of bottom placed side, Newcastle United
