Arsene
Manager, Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his side are keen to sign Nigerian
duo of Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze.
The
Arsenal boss at a press conference on Friday stated that “talks are progressing
well,” and the transfer could be completed before the end of the current
transfer window barring work permit and medical issues.
“Talks
are progressing well. There are work permit issues. There are medical issues,
because they have to make medicals. It’s progressing well.
“We
will see if we can manage to get it over the line during this transfer period.
(If we can), we will do it.”
Wenger
disclosed that Nwakali was identified at the last FIFA U-17 World Cup and
described him as a top player.
“We
identified Nwakali as the player of the tournament (at last year’s Fifa
Under-17 World Cup), basically, and as a top player.”
Nwakali
captained Nigeria to a record fifth FIFA U-17 World Cup victory in Chile
between October and November last year and was voted the most valuable player
of the tournament; while Chukwueze shone like a million stars in the same
tournament, scoring a brace and winning three penalties in the group match
against Chile, and eventually emerged bronze boot winner with three goals and
three assists.

  1. A very good step up if the move sees the light of day!

My only worry is not given these youngsters a clear path to the senior side when the time comes. The manager would rather go for more established stars which will block their paths into the 1st team. Too many loan deals spoil the soup for them!
