Yes
the international break is over and the different Super Eagles players are back
to their club sides.
In
a difficult weekend that saw must of our players struggle to play, Victor Moses
and Victor Anichebe were among the shining lights.
England
Forward
Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused
substitute as a Yaya Toure inspired Manchester City beat Crystal Palace 2-1.
Nigeria
winger Alex Iwobi was left on the
bench for the entire 90 minutes as Manchester United and Arsenal played out a
1-1 draw in their English Premier League fixture at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Victor Anichebe bagged a brace
for Sunderland who secured their second Premier League win of the season
following their 3-0 home win against Hull City.
It
was Anichebe’ s third league goal in two games after scoring in Sunderland’s
2-1 away win against Bournemouth before the international break.
Jermaine
Defoe gave Sunderland the lead on 34 minutes before Anichebe made it 2-0 with a
64th minute strike.
And
in the 84th minute, the Nigerian scored his second and Sunderland’s third to
secure the comfortable win.
The
win lifted Sunderland off the bottom to 19th in the league table.
At
Vicarage Road Watford returned to winning ways following their slim 2-1 win
against champions Leicester City.
Super
Eagles assistant captain Ahmed Musa
was introduced for Marc Albrighton on 80th minute while Odion Ighalo was left on the bench throughout the encounter.
Chelsea
continued their impressive Premier League winning streak as they secured a
hard-fought 1-0 win against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday.
Super
Eagles forward Victor Moses was in
action and was impressive again before going off for Branislav Ivanovic on 90
minutes.
Germany
Super
Eagles defender, Leon Balogun
featured for Mainz who defeated visiting
Frieburg
4-2.
Balogun
was introduced for Jhon Cordoba in the 90th minute.
SPAIN
Uche Henry Agbo was on from start
to finish as Granada continued their struggles in the league as they played out
a one all draw with Valencia away from home.
TURKEY
Former
Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Emenike
was an 85th minute substitute as Fenerbahce ran out 2 – 0 winners
over Galatasaray.
Samuel Emem Eduok was on full
display as his team Kasimpasa played out a 2 – 2 draw at home against
Karabukspor.
The
former Dolphins FC man was lively but unable to find the back of the net.
Holland
Tyronne Ebuehi made an
appearance for Ado Den Haag who lost 2-1 away to Groningen in the Netherlands
Eredivisie.
Ebuehi
was on for 90 minutes for Ado Den Haag in the encounter.
Belgium
Defender-cum-midfielder
Wilfred Ndidi featured for 90
minutes in Genk’s 2-0 home win against Eupen.
In
action for Eupen was Nigerian forward Henry Chukwuemeka.
And
in another Belgian top division clash, Super Eagles winger Moses Simon played for Gent who beat Mouscron 2-0 away.
While
Simon saw action for 90 minutes, his Nigerian teammate Rabiu Ibrahim was an unused substitute.
Austria
Nigerian
forward Olanrewaju Kayode was on
target for Austria Wien in their 2-0 home win against Ried in the Austrian top
division on Saturday.

It
was Kayode’s fifth goal in 13 appearances for Austria Wien in the league this
season.
