After
a 2-0 first leg win against Ludogorets Razgrad, John Ogu wants to play in the
Champions League group stages this season.
Though
the team still has three more games to play to get there, Ogu sees it as a big possibility
considering how close they got last year.
“Europe
in the Champions League is something I am looking forward to,” Ogu told
Naijafootball247.com.
“Last
year we almost got there and it was just one goal we needed to get to the
Champions League against Celtic that ensured we played in the Europa.
“We
need to work hard and everyone is looking for this opportunity. Last year gave
us belief and this year it is possible,” Ogu said.
Great to win
League in Israel
The
barrel chested midfielder described the feeling of being Israeli League champion
as a great one.
“Winning
the League in Israel is great. We fought hard in so many games in League Cup
and then Super Cup.
“We
knew it would be tough with teams like Maccabi Haifa, Beitar Jerusalem and the
rest but it was a great season last year.
“I
must give credit to everyone as this is the second League title of my career.”
In
the Champions League 2nd qualifying round, Be’er Sheva beat Budapest
Honved 5-3 on aggregate before their game against Ludogarets Razgrad.
The
return leg between Hapoel Be’er Sheva and Ludogorets comes up on August 2 in
Bulgaria.
