Leon Balogun says he is
looking forward to reuniting with Williams Troost Ekong in the center
of the Super Eagles defence against Cameroon on Friday.

The Mainz 05 center back has
been in and out of the Nigerian team as a result of recurring
injuries but insists it has not slowed him down one bit.

Of course it is always a
disappointment to be injured but I do not look at my past.

Injuries are injuries and
they are part of the game, but one positive is that is has not
affected my performance anytime I am here to play for the Super
Eagles,” Balogun said.

Balogun
missed Nigeria’s last game against South Africa with injury leaving
William Troost Ekong to pair win Central Defence with Chiedozie
Awaziem.

Every
time I play with William (Troost Ekong) we show that the disconnect
does not really break us.

The
only thing I am disappointed in is the games I miss because William
and I get along on and off the pitch. It is good to be back,”
Balogun said.

Leon
Balogun first played for the Super Eagles in March 2014 in a friendly
match against Mexico, replacing Joseph Yobo at half time, but got
injured twenty minutes later as he collided with a signage, missing
the World Cup as a result.

A
full year after his debut, he played his 2nd match for the
Eagles in a 1-0 loss to Uganda on 25th March 2015.

He
has played 8 times for Nigeria in three years.
