Insurance FC and Gombe United may be on their way to the Nigeria Professional Football League if the last round of matches at the ongoing Nigeria National League, NNL Super 8 favour them.
Insurance have won their first two games and need to avoid a loss to Shooting Stars in their final group game to ensure they return to the top flight, while Gombe United in the Northern Conference also need a draw in their last group game against Real Stars to be in the NPFL.
In the early game of Match Day 2, Gombe United beat Real Stars FC 1-0, a late goal scored by Adamu Mohammed.
Kada City thrashed Kogi United 3-0 to go top of the Northern Conference via goals difference ahead of Gombe United.
After a goaless first half, Nura Mohammed and Umar Mohammed scored for Kada City in the 50th and 52nd minutes respectively.
Kabiru Sanusi added the third late in the game.
In the Southern Conference, Shooting Stars shook off the lethargy of their opening day loss to Remo Stars with a 2-0 win over Delta Force.
Ayobami Junior scored first in the 55th minute and Opeoluwa Olufemi made it two with just a few second left in the game.
A 64th minute strike by Junior Osagie gave Insurance a 1-0 win over Remo Stars.
The 3rd round of games will be played in Aba on Tuesday that will determine the four qualifiers for the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL
