NNL Super 8 kicks off with aplomb

Finally the Nigeria National League, NNL Super 8 kicked off in Aba on Sunday after all the controversy surrounding the play-offs.
After two shifts and an attempt by five of the 8 clubs to seek automatic promotion into the 1st tier Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL, the games kicked off on Sunday morning with Gombe United drawing 1-1 with Kogi United.
Joseph Onoja opened scores for Gombe United in the 2nd minute before Kogi United drew level after 61 minutes through Ibrahim Enesi.
Bendel Insurance soundly thrashed Delta Force 3-0.
Veteran Charles Omokaro scored in the 12th minute. Three minutes later, Michael Enaruna converted a free kick to double scores for Insurance before Delta Force was reduced to ten men in the 35th minute.
Nduka Eze was adjudged to have denied an obvious goal scoring opportunity when he fouled an Insurance attacker.
Kada City FC and Real Stars ended their encounter 2-2.
Kelvin Emmanuel scored in the 21st minute for Real Stars while Kabiru Sanusi equalized in added time of the 1st half.
Kada City went ahead in the second half when Jamilu Coker headed home from Obioma Arinze’s assist. Daniel George drew the game level three minutes from time to spare the blushes of Real Stars.
In the day’s final game, Remo Stars thrashed Shooting Stars 3-0.
Edoka Owoicho 33rd, Awoyemi Abiodun 75th and Olufemi Oladapo 85th scored the goals that ruined the opening game for Shooting Stars.
The Play-Offs continue on Monday in Aba.
