Rivers United manager, Stanley Eguma has left the club to join Real Madrid Academy as its Sporting Director.
Eguma has been at Rivers United since 2008 when he joined them as Dolphins FC and won the League title in 2011 with the club.
With the recent partnership between the Rivers State government and Real Madrid leading to the setting up of an academy in Port Harcourt, Eguma will now leave Rivers United to team up with the Real Madrid Academy by the end of the season.
“I am happy that the Rivers State government saw me worthy of being part of the Academy,” Eguma told NigerianFootballer.com exclusively.
“I have served for a long time at Sharks, Dolphins and Rivers United and I am happy that the state government found me worthy of this new position.
“I know what the objectives of the academy are so I will work in that line,” Eguma said.
Nine coaches were sent to Madrid last week for a two-week training ahead of the start of the Real Madrid Academy.
Not wanting to leave a vacuum, the Rivers State government have quickly hired journeyman Turkish coach, Lirpa Loof to take over at Rivers United as soon as the season ends.
If you read this story until this point and did not know it was an April Fool joke, then we at NigerianFootballer.com are sorry for you. The new manager, Lirpa Loof is just April Fool spelt backwards.
Enjoy the rest of your day.
