Sweden based, Henry Offia sees himself as a shy person but will shake that off at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland next month.
Offia, Anambra born, who started his football in Lagos with United Ajax insists he and his team mates can go into the record books by winning the tournament in Poland.
“I am shy. I do not mix with people and it is really difficult for me, but I am working on it,” Offia told NigerianFootballer.com.
“I also like to play too much and have fun,” he added.
In spite of this, the World Cup will be serious business for Offia and his team mates because they have a chance to go into the record books.
“The mood in camp has been good. When I first came I saw it as a family and it has really been good, the IK Siriuis midfielder said.
“This World Cup is a competition we (Nigeria) have never won and it will be good to win it and make history.
“Our names will be written as the first to win this World Cup,” he told NigerianFootballer.com.
The Anambra born Offia started his football in Lagos with United Ajax Academy and then he joined Dinamo Academy, also in Lagos.
At the Dinamo Academy, he got a chance to get scouted from Sweden, went for trials and was given a contract.
Not known in Nigeria, he sent in some of his videos to the coaches of the team and after a while of waiting, while training and hoping, he was called up to join the Flying Eagles, as the team is called.
“It was really great to be on the list. I talked to my manager who said he would talk to the coach and then I sent in some of my videos and waited.
“When I saw my name in the provisional list my aim was to at least make the twenty one man team to the World Cup and now I have,” Offia said.
Born on December 6, 1999, Offia plays in midfield for IK Sirius, though he had a short loan spell with Sollentuna FK.
