Maduka Okoye has been called up for the first time

Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper at the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations, Daniel Akpeyi has been dropped from the team that will play against Ukraine in an International friendly game next month.

In his place is Maduka Okoye who plays for Fortuna Dusseldorf in Germany.

Rohr has listed twenty players for the game on September 10, 2019, with Saudi Arabia based captain, Ahmed Musa at the head of the roster.

Tyronne Ebuehi, who missed the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals due to injury, has been recalled and Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Kelechi Iheanacho, cut from the roster just before the AFCON, have been told to fly to Ukraine.

England –based duo of Alex Iwobi and Iheanacho have been listed in midfield roles. –based midfielder Joe Aribo has also like Okoye been invited for the first time.


Ukraine is rated number 25 on the FIFA ranking while Nigeria is 33rd.
