Stephen Adah has declared that Kwara United’s troubled times are over after he inspired the club to stun Abia Warriors 2-0 on MatchDay 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) at the Ilorin Township Stadium.
His was the name in the lips of Kwara United fans after the team’s much-needed win over visiting Abia Warriors.
The former Katsina United attacker came off the bench to score and assist Kwara United’s goals to ease the worries of fans at the Kwara Sports Complex after a deadlock first half.
Adah laid the ball for Alamayo Abdulrazaq, who curled in an opener for the Afonja Warlords in the 75th minute before his 89th-minute effort ricocheted off an Abia Warriors defender to earn his side a 2-0 victory.
In what was a coincidence, Adah’s last goal in the NPFL came against Abia Warriors when he represented FC Taraba in the 2014/15 season. However, the diminutive attacker revealed in his match-defining performance in lieu of the pep talk he got from coach Abdullahi Biffo on Sunday.
“I’m happy to have helped the team today. The coach told me to push forward and I should do what I know how to do best” he told www.npfl.ng.
The Kwara United attacker continued, “he also told me to make sure I assist a goal and put more pressure on the opponents and see if I can shoot from anywhere. I tried it and I got it right.”
The win lifted Kwara United into the 16th position on the log, just above relegation spots ahead of Matchday 13 fixture against Enyimba,.which has been postponed to a later date
Adah believes the team is primed to extend the current momentum into their trip to Abia, “We are taking the game to Abia and see what we can get from there”.
“We are going there for a win. If we get a draw, it is still a plus for the team,” he concluded.
