It was a ‘booombastic ending’ on Wednesday as bettors cashed out big on our Midweek Straight Wins ACCA Special

A perfect 100% return on the 28 odds bet slip gives us hope of another winning today.

As it’s said in local parlance, thank God it’s Friday! Traditionally, Friday ushers in a weekend of football frenzy across the world, and this Friday is not different as thousands of football matches are scheduled to take place around the world.

The focus, however, will be on the German city of Cologne where Victor Moses’ Inter Milan slug it out with Sevilla in the final match of the 2019/20 UEFA Europa League season.

It’s been nine seasons since Inter Milan last picked up a competitive trophy, but their 5-0 win over Shakhtar in the UEL semi-final – the biggest-ever win margin at that stage of the tournament (UEFA Cup/UEL) – makes them favourites here. Inter’s first two goals in that rout came from headers, and they’ve now scored a first-half opener in six straight competitive matches.

A 20-game unbeaten run in all competitions (W11, D9) has helped Sevilla reach their sixth UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League (UEL) final – two more than any other side. An exceptional defence has been key, with the Spanish outfit registering a clean sheet in nine of their 13 competitive matches since the footballing restart – more than any other team in Europe’s top five leagues.

Like their opponents, Inter’s defence has excelled recently, conceding just one goal across their last seven matches (W6, D1).

Having ended the 2019/20 season abruptly as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the French Ligue 1 becomes the first of the top-5 league in Europe to commence the 2020/21 domestic season.

Not less than three Nigerian football players will be in action when Bordeaux, parading the duo of Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja take on Moses Simon’s Nantes in the season opener at the Matmut Atlantique.

The opening round hasn’t been so profitable for Bordeaux in the last few years, with ‘Les Girondins’ winless across their previous three Ligue 1 (L1) campaign openers (D1, L2). Furthermore, Bordeaux are also on a five-game L1 home run without victory (D3, L2), although none of the last four saw them down at the break.

Overall, Bordeaux – who have just appointed Jean-Louis Gasset as coach – won just two of their last 12 L1 matches of 2019/20 (D5, L5), although six of the seven win/loss results saw a single-goal margin. On a brighter note, Bordeaux have lost only one of their last 11 L1 H2Hs vs Nantes (W8, D2). Seven of their eight wins yielded a clean sheet, with four witnessing a 1-0 final scoreline.

Underdogs here, Nantes lost 62.5% of L1 matches they started as outsider in 2019/20 (W4, D2, L10) and overall have won just one of their last eight L1 games (D2, L5), with four witnessing at least one goal beyond the 80th minute. Coach Christian Gourcuff also laments a poor record against Bordeaux (W5, D8,L13) and just one win versus opposite number Gasset (W1, D3, L2).

Czech Liga 1, Cyprus First Division, Ukrainian Premier League also join the list of the latest domestic leagues in Europe to commence the new 2020/21 season.
