Action continues on Sunday all across leagues in Europe, Asia and Africa as club football in Europe is poised to take a break for national team football for the first time after the Coronavirus induced break.
The French Ligue 1 concludes its matchweek two program today with some exciting fixtures.
The duo of Samuel Kalu and Josh Maja are expected to be in action for Bordeaux in their tricky away fixture against Angers at Stade Raymond-Kopa.
Angers’ 1-0 opening weekend victory meant that they have now won each of their previous four Ligue 1 (L1) matches, with each accompanied by a clean sheet. Furthermore, only two sides bettered their clean sheet total of 12 last season, and no side conceded fewer shots than their average of 8.64 per game.
It was a drab start to the season for Bordeaux after their 0-0 draw made it four draws from their previous five L1 matches (L1). It is worth noting though that they finished the previous season with a run of six straight matches in which both teams scored, and five of those matches saw at least one goal in the final 30 minutes of the match.
Meanwhile, in another French Ligue 1 fixture, Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon is also expected to lead the attack for his Nantes team as they welcome an impressive Nimes to Stade de la Beaujoire.
Agoalless draw in their Ligue 1 (L1) season opener means Nantes have won just one of their last nine league games (W1, D3, L5). Seven of those nine saw Nantes fail to score before HT, a trend that could continue here considering they haven’t scored a first-half goal in their opening home game of a L1 season since 2007/08.
A 4-0 win on matchday one gave Nîmes a 15th consecutive L1 game without a draw (W6, L9), and was their third game from the last four in which they netted the opener before the tenth minute. With that quick starting ability, it’s little surprise six of their previous eight games saw goals in both halves.
Leagues in Russia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Romania, Latvia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, South Africa, Canada are not left out of action with some interesting fixtures lined up for this Sunday.
