It’s another Sunday with no shortage of football actions across leagues in Europe, Africa and Asia, and Nigerian footballers continue to hold sway amidst the frenzy.
Headlining the Super Sunday programs in the English Premier League is the mouthwatering potential title decider between champions Liverpool and Odion Ighalo’s Manchester United at Anfield.
Reigning champions Liverpool haven’t been at their scintillating best so far this season, but they ended an uncharacteristic three match winless streak with a dominant FA Cup victory last week and they have the talent to end Manchester United’s away day streak.
Despite their underperformance, Jurgen Klopp’s side remain one of the favourites in the Premier League title race and would move top with a victory today, leapfrogging the visiting Red Devils as we near the halfway point of the season.
Of course, you can’t ignore Manchester United’s tremendous away record since Project Restart. They have won 11 of their last 12 top flight trips and haven’t lost on the road since January.
Fittingly, that came against Liverpool and, once again, it’s important to take the quality of their opposition into account here. Manchester United’s 15 match unbeaten run on the road has seen them face just two big six rivals – a win at Chelsea in February and a draw with Spurs in June.
Elsewhere, in the Scottish Premiership, the Super Eagles duo of Joe Aribo and Leon Balogun are expected to be in action for the runaway leaders Rangers when they travel to Fir Park to take on Motherwell.
Champions elect Rangers have already enjoyed two comfortable victories over Motherwell this season and we can expect more of the same when the sides clash at Fir Park this Sunday lunchtime.
Gers ran out emphatic 1-5 winners here in September before following with a 3-1 success over the Well at Ibrox last month – just two of Rangers’ remarkable 21 wins from 23 SPL starts this term (D2).
Steven Gerrard’s men have won their last 15 on the spin after a hard fought 1-2 victory at Aberdeen last weekend – a result which extended their advantage at the top of the table to a whopping 21 points.
Other Nigerian players expected to be in action today include Simy Nwankwo for Serie A basement club Crotone at home to Benevento; Tyronne Ebuehi for FC Twente away at Dutch Eredivise 6th placed Groningen.
Amidst these exciting actions across Europe, we have carefully picked a few matches in this Home Wins ACCA.
We are backing the home teams to triumph in the 10 selected matches. These selections have been made based on the teams’ current forms and best available head to head stats.
