In another action-packed weekend of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) goals were scored in all but one venue with leaders, Enyimba extending their lead at the top to six points.

League leaders, Enyimba on Saturday stretched its lead at the top of the table to six points after a 2-1 win over Plateau United.

Tosin Omoyele scored a 1st half brace for the People’s Elephant while Moses Effiong got the consolation for Plateau United. Enyimba have now won four straight matches in the NPFL.

In Akure, Kwara United moved into second place after coming from behind to beat Sunshine Stars 2-1. Sadiq Yussuf gave Sunshine the lead in the 50th minute but this lasted just five minutes as Gata Adeshina equalized for Kwara United before Jude Steven completed the come back five minutes from time.

Kwara United are now unbeaten in its last six matches.

In Enugu, Rangers moved 3rd on the table after a narrow 1-0 win over Warri Wolves, thanks to a Christian Nnaji first half goal. The defeat leaves Wolves on 16th position, one point off relegation places.

Akwa United continued its resurgence after outclassing Katsina United 3-0 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium. A brace from Ndifreke Effiong and Atshimene Charles ensured that the Promise Keepers moved into fifth on the log.

Still in Uyo, Dakadda FC returned to winning ways after edging Abia Warriors 2-1. Dakadda’s goals were scored by Aniekan Ekpe (penalty) and Kokoete Udo while Abia Warriors goal was scored by Fatai Abdulahhi.

Lobi Stars extended its winless run to five after a 0-0 draw with Wikki Tourists. Lobi Stars are ninth on the log while Wikki are 12th.

Heartland moved out of the relegation zone after an away 2-1 win against MFM FC in Lagos. The Naze Millionaires took the lead through Emmanuel Adachie (penalty) in the 7th minute before Balogun Muyiwa equalized in the 50th minute for the Olukoya Boys. However, it was Heartland that would have the last laugh as Jimoh Gbadamosi scored the winner in the 55th minute to hand coach Fidelis Illechukwu his first win over his former side MFM FC.

On Monday, Kano Pillars beat FC Ifeanyi Ubah 1-0 in Port Harcourt ,a goal scored by Auwalu Ali Malam in the 23rd minute.

Rivers United beat Nasarawa United 2-0 on Monday in Port Harcourt to round up Match Day 9 games.
