It’s another Saturday offering plenty of exciting football actions across leagues in Europe and Africa.
Headlining the exciting Saturday’s actions in the English Premier League is the Merseyside Derby between Alexander Iwobi’s Everton and champions Liverpool at Anfield.
It’s been nearly two decades since Liverpool lost four consecutive Premier League (PL) games, but the ‘Reds’ are on the verge of doing just that if they can’t get a result against fierce Merseyside rivals Everton.
However, the clinical ‘Toffees’ scored with all three of their shots on target in their last away match (3-3 vs Man United), a result that extended their unbeaten PL away streak to seven games (W5, D2).
Still in the English Premier League, Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi will be in action for West Brom as the Baggies seek to end their winless streak when they visit Burnley at Turf Moor.
West Brom head into this match with just one win from their last 14 games, with none of these coming in their last six matches.
Burnley have only lost two of their last seven outings in the Premier League and those defeats came against Chelsea and Manchester City, with victories against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace strengthening their position.
Meanwhile, the duo of Ola Aina and Josh Maja will also be in English Premier League action for Fulham who are hoping to move a step closer to safety when they host Sheffield United at the Craven Cottage.
A double from Nigerian Josh Maja helped Fulham to a shock 2-0 win at Goodison Park last weekend, and while they couldn’t maintain that momentum at Turf Moor in midweek they should be able to use that as a springboard when they face the dire Sheffield United tonight
Sheffield United fell to another defeat last time out and remain rock bottom of the table with just 11 points to their name. Only four of these points have come away from home, with their surprise victory at Old Trafford remaining their sole away day victory of the season.
Other Nigerian players expected to be in actions include: Moses Simon for Nantes at home to French Ligue 1 top-six side Marseille; Taiwo Awoniyi for Union Berlin away at German Bundesliga midtable team Freiburg; John Obi Mikel for Stoke City at home to English Championship strugglers Luton; Omatsone Aluko for Reading at home to English Championship top side Middlesbrough; Efe Ambrose for Livingston away at Scottish Premiership top-six hopeful St. Mirren.
