Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM) were 3-0 better than Akwa United on Matchday 8 of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Agege township stadium in Lagos.
MFM got the opener through a penalty when Akwa United’s goalkeeper Itodo Akor was adjudged to have committed a foul in the area, giving Ogwu the chance to put the host in front, before substitute Balogun A. grabbed his brace to make it a resounding victory for the Lagos-based side.
Akwa United coach John Obuh reinstated the same starting lineup that recorded his first victory at the nest of champions when they defeated Adamawa United 4-0.

But they found themselves behind in the 42nd minute via a penalty.
Coach Obuh made two early substitutions just before the hour mark when Samuel Mathias came in for Ifeanyi Ifeanyi and Akarandot Orok replaced Ndifreke Effiong who had a hat trick in his last game in Uyo.
Akwa United’s hope for at least a draw was still in, especially with the number of attempts and pressure from the Uyo-based side.
Sampson Gbadebo thought he has drawn his side level when he headed Aniekeme’s cross goalward, but his effort was shifted against the post resulting in a corner.
Substitute Akarandot Orok had his own chance, but the goalkeeper was always in the right spot to make vital saves.
Substitute Balogun A. got his first and second of the night in the 74th and 82nd minute, ensuring a win against the former Aiteo Cup champions.
Akwa United are now winless on the road this season, losing three and drawing just one which was their first game of the campaign.
The promise keepers will be facing Rivers United before their much-anticipated game against inform and bitter rivals Dakkada Int’l football club (Akwa Starlet). Both games will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Matchday nine and ten respectively.
