SUPER Eagles’ coach, Samson Siasia, could not release the list of players for the Nigeria versus Argentina on Monday because there was no member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical department at the secretariat to receive it.

NFF Technical Committee Chairman, Chris Green, who informed journalists last week that Siasia would release the list on Monday, The Guardian learnt, travelled with the Super Falcons for the 2011 All Africa Games qualifier, which Nigeria lost to the Black Queens of Ghana in Accra on Sunday.

Siasia, who refused to comment on the list, said he would come back on Tuesday to re-present the list.

The Guardian learnt that players in the list would be used in the games against Argentina in Abuja on June 1 and the Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa a few days later.

The Super Eagles won the first leg against the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia 4-0 when they met in Abuja in March.

Meanwhile, Turkey-based striker Emmanuel Emenike and home-based Super Eagles’ captain, Chibuzor Okonkwo, who is nursing an ankle injury, are in the squad for the two matches. According to an NFF official, who spoke to a local website, “both players will be fit and ready for the matches next month.”

Karabukspor of Turkey star, Emenike, has had a running battle with injuries since he debuted for the Eagles against Sierra Leone in February. He first suffered a shin injury against the Leone Stars in Lagos, and back in Turkey, he suffered a rib injury, which has seen him out of action for the last couple of weeks.

Okonkwo led the Eagles B team, which fell short of expectations at the recent sub-regional WAFU nations Cup in Abeokuta. The right-back copped an ankle injury against Niger Republic, which kept him out of both the semi-final and final of the annual tournament. Doctors have said he would be sidelined for at least two weeks.

In the main, Siasia is also keeping faith with most of the top stars that have featured for the country since he took over the team in December. This means that goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama and Dele Aiyenugba, as well as defenders Efe Ambrose, Joseph Yobo and Taye Taiwo are all in the squad, as are Obinna Nsofor, Mikel Obi, Joel Obi, Peter Utaka, Ikechukwu Uche and Ahmed Musa
