Nigeria captain Chibuzor Okonkwo (pictured left) has been ruled out of Saturday’s WAFU Cup Final against Togo.
The defender injured his ankle in the latter stages of Nigeria’s 4-0 group stage win over Niger, and missed Thursday’s tension-soaked semifinal against Ghana.
Scans showed that the defender had bruised a nerve in his left ankle.
However, the Super Eagles medical team say he will be fit for the June 1 match up against Argentina.
Okonkwo is the only player ruled out of the final. Although there are other slight niggles, team medics say there are no major issues.
