The 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) high fliers were slowed down in Sunday’s games as newly promoted Remo Stars continued their unbeaten start to the top flight with a draw in Uyo.

In the pick of Sunday’s encounters, former champions Kano Pillars put an end to their winless start to the season with a firm 2-0 win over Enyimba in Kaduna, inflicting a second consecutive loss on Finidi George’s team.

Rabiu Ali gave Pillars the lead on the dot of half time when he converted from the penalty spot. Winger Kokoete Udo then netted his side’s second on the hour mark to give Salisu Yusuf’s side the much needed inspiration in a game watched by Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa.

There were two draws on Sunday and they both involved Rivers United and Remo Stars who remain unbeaten after four matches. Rivers United were frustrated in Port Harcourt by a disciplined Sunshine Stars in a 0-0 stalemate while Samuel Anakwe equalised for Remo Stars late in the first half in a 1-1 draw against Dakkada at the Nest of Champions, Uyo.

Nasarawa United also recorded their first win of the campaign with a 2-0 win over reigning champions Akwa United in Lafia. Second half goals by Michael Tochukwu and last season’s joint top scorer, Silas Nwankwo gave Bala Nikyu coached side the maximum points.

Former MFM stars Jesse Akila and Chimezie Izuchukwu scored for Plateau United in their 3-0 drubbing of troubled Heartland in Jos, with the other goal scored by in-form forward Muhammad Zulkifilu.

Rangers International produced a rampant second half display to outclass Niger Tornadoes 4-0 at the FC Ifeanyiubah Stadium in Nnewi. All goals were scored in the second 45 minutes including a brace from Kenechukwu Agu while Shedrack Asiegbu and Christian Nnaji also scored for Abdu Maikaba’s men.

MFM FC were thrashed on the road by Wikki Tourists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi. Two first half goals by Nelson Abiam and Isah Usman set Kabiru Dogo’s side enroute the win before Ibrahim Saleh added gloss to the 3-0 scoreline on the hour mark.

Three matches take place on Monday to conclude MatchDay 4. Gombe United host Lobi Stars, Shooting Stars entertain Katsina United in Ibadan while Kwara United are guests of Abia Warriors in Okigwe.
